Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on March 26th in 1991. She's an American artist and songwriter, as well as the first artist to be signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. The label released her first album titled Pho in the month of October 2016 where she started getting noticed. Her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012 following the release of her debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. The singer continued uploading her tracks online through 2014, which included the self-released single Bound. In the year 2015, she performed in Omen's Elephant Eyes Album on Sweat it out on 21st July. J. Cole was interested by her talent and was looking to collaborate together with Rihanna. The announcement of her decision to be signed by Dreamville Records was made on December 8th. Backseat was her contribution for The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In the month of October the singer-songwriter released her debut EP Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performance to J. Cole on his song Change in 2017, and was a part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. Also, she was featured on the songs Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus with Bas the label's co-founders. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on July 16, 2018. A music video was later released in September. Then, in November, she released the singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. Two singles more were released on the 11th of November Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby was then able to make an appearance in the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. The singer released the single in order to announce her debut album Creed II on 26 February 2019. On February 20, 2019 a music video was released for the song. The track has received nearly 3 millions views on YouTube within the first week. In support of the track, she toured together with 6LACK in December 2018 on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
